About Mike

Karting Coach was founded by Mike Weatherman in 2008 as a means to stay involved in a sport he loved as well as an opportunity to help others.

Mike’s story begins in 1998 when at the age of 16 he began racing karts with the IKAC club at Bandimere Speedway.

Lesson number one: There is a lot to learn!

Little did he know that this would be the groundwork for his future passion and business venture. The first couple of years were rough, however with the help of his father Greg, Mike kept pressing forward with his dream of being a race car driver.

In his fourth year of karting, Mike found himself living his dream of traveling around the country competing in Pro level events with the SKUSA Pro-Moto Tour and Stars of Karting racing series.

Following his stint on the Pro Tour, Mike decided to take on a bigger challenge: Sports Cars, and in 2003 he began racing with the SCCA behind the wheel of a Spec7 race car.

Over the next two years he would compete in multiple events at Second Creek Raceway, Pueblo Motor Sports Park, Pikes Peak International Raceway, and Colorado National Speedway.

At the end of the 2004 season Mike made the hard decision to sell his Spec7 and get back to his roots in karting which signaled a new beginning, one where he saw the sport and the competition in a new light.

Suddenly it wasn’t just himself that he saw fighting for positions, for what adjustment to make, and for the right line to pass the guy ahead.

He saw new competitors and their support crews, most times their parents, struggling just the way he and his dad did when they began racing seven years earlier, and started out helping where he could... giving driving tips and tuning suggestions to fellow racers, and inviting others to share a pit space and learn together.

Mike began coaching, and along the way he met a particularly interesting student, a student that was passionate about the sport and had some great ideas. Ideas that would change the way we can help racers from around the world.

That student was Mark Lubischer. In 2008, Karting Coach, Inc. was born and over the past 5 years Mike and Mark have worked to bring cutting edge technology, and second to none customer service, to clients around the world.
